Saudis Increase Focus on Gas Development

President George Bush seals the deal with a kiss,
on importing natural gas to America,
With his business partners.

The Karan field, located 100 kilometers north of the Kingdom's giant onshore Ghawar oil field Karan is thought to contain at least 9 trillion cubic feet of gas and when development is completed the field is expected to produce one billion c/f a day of gas.State-owned Saudi Aramco is drilling more than 300 development wells including 67 exploration wells in present areas of production by 2011. Saudi Aramco is also looking at other potentially huge gas projects and is currently assessing exploration programmes offshore in the Red Sea as well as in the Nafud northern desert and in the western region along the Red Sea coast. Saudi gas reserves are presently estimated at 242 trillion cubic feet, the world's fourth largest.

I am suspicious of the Bush administration and its energy policies. Is this why Bush is pushing the development and building of Liquid Natural Gas facilities in the United States? to help his Saudi friends? Along with his own families interconnected business dealings with the Saudis? Sempra Energy a Bush company has its fingers in the development of several LNG facilities.
The state of Oregon does not need LNG to meet its energy needs, with the increasing number of wind farms and other "green energy" being built and the conservation methods that Oregonians are implementing, Oregon has reduced its usage of natural gas by about 49%. The state of Oregon has implemented several programs to sway away from fossil fuel and to replace fossil fuel with renewable energy sources. Way To Go Oregon and Governor Ted!

Oregon is using Bio-mass, developing wave power, along our coast lines, wind farms through out eastern Oregon, solar energy, geothermal, and along with these new ways of meeting Oregon's energy needs are incentives to those companies who are trying to achieve fossil free energy, incentives that individual homeowners can cash in on too.

The push for LNG in Oregon is fueled by energy needs in California. California is refusing LNG proposals on their coasts and off shore as well, Why must Oregonians shoulder the dangers, cost, loss of economy, and importantly the loss of our way of life to LNG facilities and to California? If California needs more energy let California reduce its energy consumption, let California house LNG facilities.

People all over the world must take it upon themselves to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, The United states must step up to the plate and force companies to become less energy dependent, force updated technology in all areas, we have the technology lets due it. The cost of updating may seem huge but the savings in energy costs alone out weighs the cost of updating. Not only would we reduce green house gasses but we would create millions of jobs in the updating process so it would be a win win situation for everyone.

I urge everyone to replace their light bulbs with energy saver bulbs, they may cost a little more at first but the savings will come back many times greater. It is our responsibility to be good stewards of the earth and for a long time we have neglected our duty, lets ban together and corrected our mistakes, put political difference aside on this one, republicans need to forget about the want of money or better term greed, on this important issue, we must make our home, the earth, healthy once again, for our lives and the lives of future generations depend on our decisions of today, lets make the right decision now.
