Republican Ted Cruz of Texas Mr. Crazy himself; and the former residents of Antarctica

Two Articles: Cruz and Scientific Discoveries

I debated whether to write about Ted Cruz this week, and thought, no…but then decided that I need to expose his absurdity. I had enough of senseless people, their stupidity and downright lies. Cruz’s nonstop squeaking like an annoying rocking chair about fellow Senators, and the President. Or important issues, such covid, abortion, climate change, the energy grid and the most important one the Jan. 6th insurrection. And his support and defense of X president Trump. His comments is more than even the Pope himself can bear. His latest one is that he wants Dr. Fauci the government’s top infectious disease arrested.

Some Republicans, including Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., have accused Fauci of lying to Congress when he denied in May that the National Institutes of Health funded “gain of function” research — the practice of improving a virus in a lab to study its likely impact in the real world — at a virology lab in Wuhan, China. Cruz has urged Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Fauci’s statements.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, called the GOP criticism nonsense. Anybody who’s looking at this carefully realizes that there’s a distinct anti-science flavor to this, he said. Cruz and Paul say an October letter from NIH to Congress contradicts Fauci. But no clear evidence or scientific consensus exists that “gain of function” research was funded by NIH, and there is no link of U.S.-funded research to the emergence of COVID-19. NIH has repeatedly maintained that its funding did not go to such research involving boosting the infectivity and lethality of a pathogen.

When asked in the CBS interview whether Republicans might be raising the claims to make him a scapegoat and deflect criticism of Trump, Fauci said, “of course, you have to be asleep not to figure that one out.

While sitting down with "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan, Fauci suggested that lawmakers like Paul and Cruz were targeting him to distract from scandals associated with the Trump administration, such as the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. So it's easy to criticize, but they're really criticizing science because I represent science.

Rep. Senator Rand Paul tweeted, now remember this comes from a person who claims to be a Dr., a self-appointed one at that. The absolute idea of someone claiming THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.

Then crazy Teddy Cruz also took issue with Fauci saying he represents science, tweeting, "Fauci is an unelected technocrat who has distorted science and facts in order to exercise authoritarian control over millions of Americans. He lives in a liberal world where his smug 'I REPRESENT science' attitude is praised."

Throughout the pandemic, Fauci has become a target for right-wing media and Republican lawmakers who have decried his handling of COVID-19. Last year, allies of former President Trump accused the leading infectious diseases expert of seeking to undermine the administration. All because he would not agree with the crazy President Trump and his moron comments about medicines and treatments for COVID. Such as putting a light up ones arse to kill the virus, or drink bleach, or ingest pond chemicals to taking horse wormer. Good God, and this was the leader of the Free World, and the most powerful country in the world. And Cruz is after Dr. Fauci! . I think they have room in the local nut house for Cruz and pals. No wonder this Republic is in peril.

GOP Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) on Monday fired back at chief White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci after he gave an in-depth interview in which he called their criticisms "dangerous." While sitting down with "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan, Fauci suggested that lawmakers like Paul and Cruz were targeting him to distract from scandals associated with the Trump administration, such as the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

“So it's easy to criticize, but they're really criticizing science because I represent science,” Fauci said in the interview. “That's dangerous. To me, that's more dangerous than the slings and the arrows that get thrown at me. I'm not going to be around here forever, but science is going to be here forever. And if you damage science, you are doing something very detrimental to society long after I leave. And that's what I worry about.”

On Sunday, Paul, who has repeatedly called for Fauci to resign or be fired, retweeted a video of the interview and wrote, "The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity."

Cruz also took issue with Fauci saying he represents science, tweeting, "Fauci is an unelected technocrat who has distorted science and facts in order to exercise authoritarian control over millions of Americans. He lives in a liberal world where his smug 'I REPRESENT science' attitude is praised."

The Texas senator further criticized Fauci for supposedly lying about the National Institutes of Health funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and suggested that Fauci should be prosecuted by the Justice Department.

Throughout the pandemic, Fauci has become a target for right-wing media and Republican lawmakers who have decried his handling of COVID-19. Last year, allies of former President Trump accused the leading infectious diseases expert of seeking to undermine the administration.

Trump frequently blasted Fauci, who at times gave advice that was counter to what Trump was publicly saying about the coronavirus. Shortly before Election Day in 2020, Trump said he was considering firing Fauci. Since President Biden's inauguration, Fauci has spoken out about the "chilling" pressure that scientists felt under the Trump administration and the lack of "any direction."

The Republicans are doing nothing more than to try and take pressure off their party’s failures in the infrastructure bill, addressing other important issues that are effecting millions of Americans which President Biden is addressing. They need to demonize the Democratic Party. Because they are complete liars, traitors, and self-serving louts which are destroying our Republic.

Now to my favorite research and passion science and history.

Raging wildfires tore through Antarctica 75 million years ago, back when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. During the late Cretaceous period (100 million to 66 million years ago), one of the warmest periods on Earth, Antarctica's James Ross Island was home to a temperate forest of conifers, ferns and flowering plants known as angiosperms, as well as to a slew of dinosaurs. But it wasn't a total paradise; ancient paleo-fires burned parts of those forests to a crisp, leaving behind charcoal remnants. Scientists have now scooped up and studied these remains. Vegetation fires occurred more often during the Cretaceous Period than previously thought. These finds prove that these fires were common in Antarctica during this time period of Campanian age (about 84 million to 72 million years ago. The finds were tiny tiny fragments from a botanical family of coniferous trees called Araucariaceae. Intense forest fires were frequent and widespread during the late Cretaceous, although most of the evidence for these blazes lies in the Northern Hemisphere, with a few documented cases in the Southern Hemisphere in what is now Tasmania, New Zealand and Argentina.

During the late Cretaceous, the supercontinent of Gondwana was breaking up, leaving places like Antarctica more remote than before. This ice-free region had plenty of ignition sources, including lightning strikes, fireballs from falling meteors and volcanic activity, as well as combustible vegetation and high oxygen levels, which help fires burn.

Antarctica had intense volcanic activity caused by tectonics during the Cretaceous, as suggested by the presence of fossil remains in strata related to ash falls, it is credible that volcanic activity ignited the palaeo-wildfire that created the charcoal finds.

Now once again science has made another remarkable discovery. Hmmm Ted Cruz I suppose you want to try and discredit this scientific discovery.

I hope this little article about Antarctica was interesting and gave you a small break from the crazy America which has dominated our lives in the last few years.
