Common practice in Columbia County, Oregon

The buzz around town this week is the apparent cover-up, secret meetings and yet again back door dealings that seem to be the norm for elected officials in Columbia County. The Oregonian reported on how the Port of St. Helens shut out the public, had an agreement already agreed with the coal companies. The port commissioners carried out meetings with two port commissioners at a time so as not to have a legal quorum, simply done so they could by-pass public meeting laws, and public input. Is this illegal maybe not but is it the actions of less than trust worthy, honest elected officials in my opinion.

Shame on these scoundrels, villains and crooks, these actions are not limited to the Port Commission they over flow to at least one of our county commissioners Tony Hyde and other various higher up elected officials at the state level.

Does this sound familiar? It should. Commissioner Tony Hyde is involved with the Columbia Health District back door dealings and the famous 190 split with the city of St. Helens and the Private foundation who were the recipient of financial gain in various ways from the taxpayer's tax money. He is also a main player who is trying to keep the taxpayers from getting a credit back on their taxes from the sale of the Millard rd. property. He wants to give the property to the City of St. Helens for free. People wonder why the City of St. Helens wants the property for what purposes do they have in mind, why would they want to screw the taxpayers in the special district. What villainous scheme have they cooked up? No one knows as of yet.

Remember the tax money assessed was to build a critical access hospital. And the project was denied twice by the state of Oregon and was found to be financially unfeasible. Some of the same people who are involved in the port of St. Helens crooked affairs are also involved in the CHD swindle.

The people should be up in arms with the actions of these crooked commissions and should take action against these people who are deliberately circumventing democracy and swindling the taxpayers. There are a few individuals who are trying to fight these crooks on behalf of the Taxpayers. But is it their responsibility of a few to fight all the battles? Hell No. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to stand up and stop corruption where we find it.

If people got involved and stood up against these persons who are making deals against the good of the county and its people, corruption would stop. It is the duty of every American to do just that.
