Is this what Christmas shopping has become?
As I sat and watched the news last Friday evening I was disgusted not only with the merchants, but more so with the shoppers. I can understand people wanting to get a good bargain, but sitting in front of a department store for days waiting for the "Black Friday deals" is stupid. Going shopping at midnight is as dumb. All the people who were pushing and shoving as the metal gates opened to try and get into the store and grab a feaken TV with out getting pepper sprayed by fellow shoppers only proves that Americans are getting dumber every year.
If these stores can sell a TV for $400.00 cheaper than regular price and make a profit then they are making way too much profit the rest of the year. Their bargains, as they like to call it, is nothing more than "bait" for the shopper to get them into the store, the bait is sold out quickly hooking the shopper on a certain item, then they offer something else at a higher price and the shopper goes ahead and buys the other item, after all you cant leave the store empty handed. Most of the time the "sale" price is more than the original price anyway.
I have to wonder what the hell has gotten into people that they need to go into battle for a discounted TV or pair of $4.00 socks on sale for $2.99. Does a person really have to have all the latest gadgets? Are these items that people go crazy over worth the hassle, and aggravation that is required to save a buck? I don't think so.
I have never shopped on "Black Friday and I never will. I would rather spend a few extra dollars and not have to deal with rude, pushy self centered shoppers, and the occasional pepper sprayer, or be tazzed by some security guard who has been driven nuts by the horde of charging bargain hunters.
What gets me with all the Christmas frenzy going on, people will buy junk, spend money they don't have, go in debt to have a big Christmas put on a show to family and friends and lets not forget the neighbors. Then next month people will be crying the blues that they cant pay rent or buy groceries. People need to save their money and spend wisely, with the economic outlook in the country, that big screen TV will be pretty hard to eat.
