CHD Board
(Disclaimer) Tammy Maygra is running for Columbia Health District Board of Director's position #1)
The health board of Columbia County makes Wall Street look like a bunch of greenhorn's. The board's continual lack of respect for the voters and taxpayers of Columbia County is evident every time you turn KOHI radio station on, or read the two newspapers that serve the area. The board's ability to skirt any direct questions regarding their underhanded, misleading, twisted, decisions leans to the side of caution that this board is far more deceitful and glib than most people first thought.
One county commissioner has now jumped on the bandwagon commenting in the local paper that he is less than happy about the way the health board is conducting business. The commissioners said from the start that they had no control over how the health board was handling business, or that they were squandering the taxpayer money. That is until the health board started stepping on the commissioner's turf, then the commissioners dire was up, and strong comments came from commissioner Tony Hyde. I have to give commissioner Hyde credit he has finally had the guts to speak up and against the health board.
County Commissioner Earl Fisher made one comment that really sets him apart from County Commissioner Tony Hyde; Fisher said that he did not feel it was necessary for the health district to have an in-depth audit. This is coming from a person who knew nothing about the special district until the election in November, when over 10,000 voters supported 5-209. Sorry, try again Fisher, this time try supporting the 10,000 voters and put a stop to this boards sleazy activities.
One must wonder about the Public health Foundation of Columbia County, which was started by none other than Gary Heide, who has been on the health board for more years than one can count .Heide when asked where the foundation got their money he answered that he did not know, ya right Gary and you claim to be a man of the cloth, all I can say is shame on you, you are a disgrace to your profession.
None of the treasurer's that sat on the foundation knew where the money that ran the foundation came from when asked. Must be a disease that this bunch is afflicted with it is called implausible memory. I ask myself everyday how does these people get up in the morning and look into a mirror? I surely couldn't if I acted like them.
Then you have Judge Reed, you made a decision that 5-209 was completely unconstitutional, how can that be you ask well maybe it had something to do with the rumor that he is a good friend of Jay Tappan, I sure hope that was not the reason.
People who are opposing this health board was advised not to intercede in the declaratory judgment phase, under an attorneys advice they were told that if it went to court they would be responsible and not to be surprised for a legal battle that would cost an minimum of $50,000, No one had that kind of extra funds laying around.
It was also told to them that the declaratory judgment only serves the current board and that any newly elected board can proceed as they wish and that was extremely good news for the group. They can proceed as the 10,000 voters voted for the board to do. All I can say, this issue is a hot potato and it is going to get even hotter as the election in May gets closer.
