These sharks were killed for one fin So a person in Japan or China can have a bowl of soup The rest of the shark is thrown away
Japan & China Defeat Conservation Measures
Japan and China have persuaded other Asian countries to defeat a proposal to protect the hammerhead shark and the white tipped shark. Japan and China are like locus when it comes to fishing, these people have no qualms in wiping out an entire species of shark for one of their fins. The United States proposed a ban on all endangered species at the 175 nations on International trade of endangered species. While Japan and China pushed against the ban and won, these countries were against protecting even one single species. The ban was defeated by a handful of votes.
They were also against the export ban on Atlantic Blue fin tuna, which sells for tens of thousands of dollars in Japan; they were against regulating coral trade and also a conservation plan to protect sharks.
The amount of political pull and political wheeling and dealing is priority over scientific data and the lives of many endangered species. Everyone knows that the Asian people will kill a shark for one fin and then throw away the rest of the shark. We are supposed to live in a civilized world but these Asian people have never evolved at the same speed as the rest of the world. Their greed and Dark Age superstitions have been the foundation and origin for a complete irreversible death sentence for the entire population of many species.
They would not even agree on keeping a record of the amount of catch they are taking. Stating that it would be too hard to regulate.
The United States along with Europe, Australia and several Arab countries stated that the protective measures that the Asian countries said they were doing have failed.
While the Asian countries continue to over fish, legally or illegally, they have reduces the population of several species of hammer head sharks by 85% and have depleted the population of white fin sharks by 65%. There needs to be more pressure form the US, Europe, Australia, and the Arab nations to stop the extinction of any species from needless and senseless killing for a single solitary fin.
If these countries wish to continue their senseless slaughter of these species the other countries need to take immediate action through harsh economic sanctions before it is to late for these innocent creatures.
Japan has a continuing record of slaughtering endangered and protected whales in the Antarctic sanctuary, they claim the whales they kill are for research, it has been proven otherwise, they are selling the whale meat in Japanese markets. At one time Japan wanted to whale in Baja while the whales were calving, that should give you a hint what kind of people the Japanese are.
China has a poor record as well; they have decimated the Tiger population because they believe the tiger penis is an aphrodisiac. China said they were doing efforts to save the Tiger and had special areas set aside where they were breeding Tigers, that was true, but China was breeding the Tigers, or Tiger farming, not to save the species but to kill the tigers for their penis or other body parts. 50 years ago there were 25,000-30,000 wild tigers today there are only 3,200. The Chinese have over 6,000 Tigers in farms, they do speed breeding so they can sell more parts, their new idea is to sell wine, that has Tiger carcass's in the vats, the longer the carcass is in the vats the more costly the wine, selling for over a $100.00 a bottle. It is easy for a "farm" to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year off the extinction of Tigers and Chinese Dark Age beliefs. Because of the political power and the amount of money involved it will take decades if ever to educate the people of China to stop killing tigers because greed over powers common sense, compassion for another species and science.
And we claim the species of man has evolved to be intelligent and civilized. By mans actions, it is hard to believe.
