Don't Cry for me Argentina
The party of family values, and moral majority had another of their brethren fall into disgrace this past week. Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina has finally come clean and admitted that he has been having an affair. Sanford went to Argentina to be with his mistress on Fathers Day weekend, what a loving father these CONservatives are.
Being a forgiving person myself, I can forgive Sanford for the sins of the flesh and believe that this issue is between Sanford and his poor undeserving wife of twenty years, and his innocent children who have now had their young lives complicated and destroyed because daddy wanted to mess around.
What I cannot forgive is the fact that Sanford left his state of South Carolina for 5 days unattended, he is the commander and chief of that state and his duty as the Elected official is to make decisions that arise from possible natural disasters, terrorists attacks or any action that requires the governor's immediate attention or in extreme cases the need to call out the National Guard, a decision that only he can make. Sanford was derelict in his duties and disregarded his oath of office; therefore Sanford should step down as Governor of South Carolina immediately.
Some people would say that the democrats should not condemn Sanford. Comparing Sanford's affair to the affair that Clinton had with an intern who was of legal age. I would have to disagree with their opinion, I did not support Clinton's affair or excuse his wrong decision to have an affair. But I said the same thing about Clinton; it was between him and his wife and family. The only difference is that Clinton did not neglect his duties as president of the United States. Clinton did not leave the country or should I say sneak out of the country and leave his responsibilities untended.
What I don't understand it that Mrs. Sanford knew about the affair for 5 months, why she did not take matters in her hand and sever the ties, so to speak is way beyond my comprehension. I suppose, because she is a CONservative wife, it is her duty to be subservient to her husband in all matters and even allow affairs, I guess you have to excuse her because she probably has been brain washed by her peers and knows no better.
