Nahua villager with respiratory disease,
Brought on by contact with the outside world.

Camisea Gas Project in the remote Peruvian Amazon has brought disease devastation and death to the native forest dwellers of the jungle. 75% OF Camise gas wells are in the deep jungle, The forest people who have has NO contact with outsiders and have no natural immunity against disease have fallen victim to the greed and careless attitude of the gas companies. Peruvian government officials have visited Washington and is reported to be close friends to president Bush and his oil buddies, to drum up more than $600 million in financing for the $1.4 billion project from the Inter-American Development Bank and the US Export-Import Bank, both taxpayer-backed institutions. The project is two 430-mile pipelines to the Peruvian coast; Citigroup is financial advisor to the project. The project will cut through the lands of the indigenous people and will introduce more disease and destroy their homeland.
Project heads are ignoring the law as they ignore the rights of the indigenous tribes; these greedy corporations are forcing their presence upon the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian rainforest. In the 1980s, nearly fifty percent of one indigenous group- the Nahua - died from illnesses introduced by workers when Shell was exploring for oil and gas in the area. "Ignoring the risks of introducing fatal diseases, project operators have repeatedly sent search parties into the remote forest to track down uncontacted people, what are these people thinking? If they gain contact with the natives they can accidentally and I use that term lightly, introduce disease that will kill the tribe, and then these companies can move into the area to rape and pillage it, with out the worlds opposition and the native people's protest? What a group of despicable criminal's and criminals is exactly what these types of corporate lackeys are.

Texas-based Hunt Oil, a ally of and campaign contributor to the Bush administration, heads a consortium of small and inexperienced energy players that have so far violated many international environmental and social standards in the area, and would of went broke with out the help of the Bush administration, and without publicity backed banks, it is appalling that tax dollars are being spent to deliberately kill native people who have done nothing to deserve the death and destruction that is being brought to them by Bush and his like. These people only want to live day-to-day as they have for thousands of years. As fellow humans we should be ashamed and should demand that these kinds of actions be stopped right now!

As we live in a big home, driver nice cars, eat as much and what ever we want for food, watch movies on a big screen TV, have take out dinner, go on trips, go to the doctor, we have forgotten about the people who struggle to survive everyday, people who have to hunt for their food just to survive, eating roots and grubs and occasionally a monkey or snake, people who will die from a common cold, people who laugh, love and cry, as we do, but are unable to defend themselves against the greed of oil companies, the same companies which we support when we buy gas, we need and should take a good look in the minor and face a reality check, we are the ones who are allowing these grave injustice to the indigenous peoples of the world to continue, we should demand that they be protected and left alone. We should have the compassion in us to do what is right and start being responsible for what is happening because of our greedy corporations, whom we subsidize with out tax dollars and cash from our pockets. We should demand that no tax dollars by way of any bank or lending institution, including the United States government be used in harming these peoples. The United States would give no tax breaks or tax dollars for research and development to companies who infringe on any indigenous peoples. No matter how much gas or oil that is in their lands, including pipelines.

The native people deserve to live healthy and in peace
