Thanksgiving
The story of Thanksgiving is basically the story of the Pilgrims and their thankful community feast at Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Pilgrims, who set sail from Plymouth, England on a ship called the Mayflower on September 6, 1620, were fortune hunters, bound for the resourceful 'New World'. The Mayflower was a small ship crowded with men, women and children, besides the sailors on board. Aboard were passengers consisting of the 'separatists', who called themselves the "Saints", and others, whom the separatists called the "Strangers". After land was sighted in November following 66 days of a lethal voyage, a meeting was held and an agreement of truce was worked out. It was called the Mayflower Compact. The agreement guaranteed equality among the members of the two groups. They merged together to be recognized as the "Pilgrims." These people who dared to voyage and settle in unknown lands did so in hopes of freedom from an unjust king, when they reached land they felt that their prayers had been answered, and a new beginning was in their sight. Now in 2007, our nation is under assault from another unjust, self appointed king, his name is George W. Bush. As Americans sit down to a Thanksgiving dinner they have concerns although different because of the modern times, some are basically the same concerns that the Pilgrims had at their first Thanksgiving dinner, such as how they were going to survive the winter. Americans worry about the high cost of fuel for their cars and fuel to heat their homes this winter, many people will suffer against the cold because of the high fuel prices, not being able to turn the heat up, because if they do, they will not be able to afford to eat. Elderly people will have to give up food, heat or their medicine because they cannot afford all. Many will die when harsh winter weather comes. While King George and his elite friends rake in billions from the tremendous profits from the oil companies, profiting off the suffering of others. King George will never know what it is like to miss a meal, or to be cold, or not receive medical attention. While we sit down to a Thanksgiving dinner with our friends and family many Americans will sit down to a table that is missing loved ones, their loved ones are off fighting in a WAR that was founded on deceit and lies from King George. Others will never have their family all together again for their loved ones will never be returning home, because they have given the ultimate sacrifice, "their life'. As George Bush continues to destroy America and her principles on which she was founded, we can only hope as the Pilgrims did so long ago that there will be a future, we must never give up hope, we must prevail over the last remaining days of Bush's reign of terror. We must be ready to take back America with decent people who will work to restore the Constitution and bring respect back to America, every single one of us has a duty to stand up and voice our disgust and demand that our Congress stands up and defends us against America's domestic enemy George Bush. Unfortunately so far, nearly every democrat has lacked the fortitude to stop George Bush and his evil minions, it is time to throw away political correctness, take the bull by the horns and do what the voters voted the democrats to do, and that is to act like Americans, and put an end to the Bush dictatorship, and bring back jobs, prosperity to all, and most importantly the RULE OF LAW.
