Walt Karnosh, spoke up.  "I really hated to see Mayday disappear.  I thought it was a nice way to greet spring.  I agree with Claudia, we shouldn't have to lose a good day because of politics.  I loved seeing children dancing with bright ribbons, and you have to admit that it was a kind gesture to anonymously give people flowers.  In 1955, Pope Pius XII designated May 1st as a feast day of St. Joseph the Worker."  I am glad that it is still celebrated in other parts of the world.  Mayday is a festival of happiness, joy and the coming of summer.   I believe that this world could benefit from more happiness and joy.  Don't you think so too?

Walt continued: "Let us raise our glasses and let me repeat a Mayday blessing that I read the other day. It was written by Lea Docken, 'My Mayday blessing is for you to have a glorious summer of warmth, happiness, and prosperity which will carry you through the dark months of winter.'"
