It was a great evening.

Nothing seemed to escape General Schwarzkopf's notice. The next morning he barked at LTC (Doc) Harry.  "What is this business about a funeral?  I understand that we had someone claiming to be the Mayor of San Jose on post.  What do you know about this?"

LTC (Doc) Harry Stammered. 

General Schwarzkopf  stared at Harry.  "Was it your Sergeant Eagle?"

"Yes General it was."

General Schwarzkopf laughed and a relieved Col Harry laughed with him.

I am pleased to say that both Doc Harry and I had letters of commendation put in our files from the General.  Operation Celtic Cross was a successful exercise and we all felt that we were able to contribute something worth while.

Few people realize that the Panama invasion did not "just happen."  It was planned, rehearsed and gamed well over a year before any shots were fired.    Two years later Operation Desert Storm commenced.  H. Norman Schwarzkopf was the General who planned and led the liberation of Kuwait.   

It may not be so (but I would like to believe it is) that because of the training we provided, our Country did not commit major violations of the Laws of Land Warfare or have any Abu Ghraib's scandals during our stays in Panama or Kuwait.  It may not be so, but I would like to believe it anyway.  Just be-cause.
